An anthology of what storytelling could be
In a mixture of memories and suggestions the stories of six characters come to life. A trip without space and time in the mutable skin of a chameleon.
Before starting to work on this short, during the brainstorming, many ideas came out. We wanted to talk about a lot of things, with a lot of different characters.
Then we tried to say “why shouldn’t we try to talk about all of them?”. Blu was born.
The creative and scripting processes have been really complex, mixing surreal visions with real characters and their different registry or way of talking was a challenge that we tried to overcome.
Also, Blu was so funny to realize, but a madness to organize for an independent production. We managed to reach almost every goal we think of during the preparation of the work, creating a fragmentary but united world. Blu taught me to push myself over boundaries with cognition, to manage a set and to talk with administrations, city halls and to exploit all the bureaucracy needed.
I affined my skills as a director, as an actor coach, learning from an expert, and my artistic vision. Also I loved to come back on my work and to redial it as an editor.
It was a real real satisfaction when Blu won a special mention at Meihodo International Youth
Visual Media Festival 2020 (during the pandemic) and it was shown at Cefalù Film Fest. We are hoping for more festival to host our hard work, and I’m looking to get back working on a set.
